About Us

Asia is the world’s largest continent making up 60% of the world’s current population with approximately 4 billion people. In an age where technology has enabled great social change within a click of a mouse, we find parts of world including 80% of Asia’s population still left behind.

Imagine if…

  • the rural villages of Asia can access the internet to seek social justice and share their stories…
  • leading NGOs can be become models for grassroots NGOs, mentoring them along the way…
  • efforts are not repeated and less reinvention of the wheel due to lack of information…

Resulting in a synergy of creative ideas, innovation, collaboration of resources, and action for positive change in East Asia and all across the world.

East Villagers’ mission is to Drive a New Movement for Non-Profits in East Asia.  We provide a platform to connect and facilitate sharing of resources among volunteers and nonprofits. Our Social Development Technology Laboratory in Beijing aims to build a web 2.0 support network for the poor.

1. Connect volunteers and help non-profits build their own online community.

2. Cultivate innovation and an element of fun to non-profit work.

3. Create continuity in non-profit projects through sustaining relationships, maintaining resources, and facilitating online collaboration.

4. Call people to action: people are brought to action when they are experiencing something first hand. East Villagers brings these first-hand experiences to them.

East Villagers was founded by Ping Chao, Peter Nguyen, and Nancy Nguyen on October 2008 and is sponsored by the Ping and Amy Chao Family Foundation.
