Evolving Fashion Styles

Back in the 80’s there were Granny Boots, and Leg Warmers, Bead Necklaces, and Stirrup pants.
Now there’s short-shorts, destroyed jeans, platform heels, off-the-shoulder-shirts, and string bikinis. When my mom sees pants with holes in them she is always astounded that these are $100 dollar jeans with rips and tears in them, when back then she would throw away clothes with holes, now they are sold for ten times the price.
So a short history of fashion…
In the 13th and 14th century, then Bliaud was worn, which was worn…which was a rough or silky fabric that was tied at the waist. Worn by males and females this garment showed no skin.
In the 14th and 15th century a Hennin was worn by woman which was a cone like hat worn on the head. Women also wore fill length dresses with long flowing sleeves. Also the tunic was in fashion, worn by businessmen.
In the 15th and 16th century, the surcoat was popular which was an outer garment worn my both sexes. Also known as long trench coat type thing it was knee length.
In the 1400’s to 1500’s women wore pregnancy pillows in their full length dresses which puffed up their dresses in any places. Men wore Codpieces, which were decorative triangular pieces attached to their stomach.
So quick jump in history to the 1900’s.
At this time the three piece suit was introduced to men and the S-Curve dress was to women, which created an s in the women’s figure.
Then, sometime later still in the early 1900’s, the one piece bathing suit was introduced which shocked the world. Most women still continued to wear other garments with this as not to show too much skin.
In the 1915’s the hobble skirt was popular which was a diamond shaped article of clothing made for women. But when they realized they could only take tiny steps at a time, the dress was brought to the knee, which brought outrage.
After wards bellbottom jeans, and beads were introduced and that remained in style for quite some time, which was called the “hippie” look.
Not until the late 1900’s did the mini skirt become really popular, and since then less has become more. There is actually a certain type of clip that guys wear attached to their boxers so when they sag their pants will stay and not “ride up”.
The fashion sense of young people all around the world is changing drastically.
