Obesity in America
Obesity is a word used to describe a person that’s body weight s much greater than what would be healthy. It means, there is a high amount of body fat that is not healthy. Obesity in America has grown worse and worse in our past century. Our country’s obesity is worse than all other. Once again, my past blog was written about how we have become much too dependent on technology and our electronics that are always glued to our ears, which also ties in to our obesity rate and a little on what I wrote about the laziness.
To me, this is a hard topic to try to write about because it seems like everything is connected and making circles around itself so I constantly find myself going back to things I already said.
Example:
Because we are technology dependent, it makes us lazy, and then the laziness has us want to eat fast foods instead of cooking.
Because we are lazy, we have technology created to assist us that makes busier more industrial that leads to wanting to eat quickly.
…etc…
But I hope to inform anybody reading this blog that obesity is becoming a big issue and it’s going to be too late before any one actually makes a big huge effort. Of course, it would be impossible to all together stop the obesity in everyone in just a day even a month, year, or decade would be a far stretch.
The number one reason for rejection from the military is obesity, and 27% of the military personnel were too overweight to be able to be considered for service. Imagine that. There are so many brave men and woman who want to serve our country and only have one thing stopping them… Their weight.
Because over the past couple of decades the obesity rate has increased so much that no state has an obesity rate less than 20% and most states actually have a rate of 30% and higher. Before, obesity was mostly in adults, but now 1 out of four children are obese and one out of 3 adults is obese. Although this does not seem like a lot, this means that that in a school with 1000 people, 250 are obese, and in a work location of 900, 300 adults are obese. The numbers are rising though, and children are taking the greater toll. According to statistics it’s obvious that although there is obesity in the elderly, the rate is much less than the current one in our generation. Kids are learning to grow up with McDonalds and fast foods instead of fruits and vegetables.
